WHAT WE WILL SEE/PHOTOGRAPH:
Flowers, birds, wildlife, spring-fed streams, a suspension bridge, and historical buildings. If the weather cooperates, we should see poppies, hydrangeas, and azaleas coming out. Planted areas are easily accessible for photography. Walkways in the front part of the grounds are paved with seating throughout the area. The trails through the woods are natural and not paved.
The schoolhouse and Wofford House from the late 1800s – can photograph through the windows, with no interior access. The children’s playhouse is delightful inside and is open to visitors. Henderson County Veterans Memorial and Plaza is across the street from the main part of the Arboretum.
IMPORTANT:
Our images are to be for personal use – not for selling. They charge an annual fee of $150 per photographer for professional photography. The lady I spoke with really questioned me about this aspect of our visit. The large painted white “Wofford House” has a porch and an interior hallway that are open to the public. However, please do not sit on the chairs or move the furniture items that are part of the decorations. It is ok, however, to sit on the rocking chairs on the front porch and to photograph through the windows.
SUGGESTED PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT
Tripod, macro lens, perhaps a small reflector dish, small flash, telephoto zoom – the type of gear you would take to the Arboretum. Drones are not allowed.
WHAT TO WEAR
Layering would be beneficial considering the time of year.
LUNCH: T/B/D
Possibly a picnic on the grounds of the Arboretum (bring your own lunch) or lunch in town. Will advise in the “Last Minute Notes”.
